Computing Labs
The CS Labs are used by the Computer Science Department for instruction and research. These labs are not available for general use by the SSU campus community. The list below also includes general use campus labs available to all students (including our majors), and specialty project labs that can be resources to CS projects.
CS majors may request key access to our labs using the department's key request form.
Darwin 24 is a CS lab used for instruction.
Equipment
The lab contains 24 Apple 21-inch iMac computers (imac 12,1), which are Intel i5 quad-core 2.5Ghz, with 4GB of memory. There is a variety of software available on each Darwin 28 machine image.
Darwin 25 is a CS lab, the Software Design Lab. It is used mainly for Computer Science instruction.
Facilities
The lab contains 24 27-inch iMacs (iMac 14.2). These are 3.2 GHz Intel i5 quad-cores, with 8 GB of RAM and 1 TB hard drives. There is a variety of software available on each Darwin 28 machine image.
Darwin 28 is a CS lab, the Advanced Computing Lab. It is used mainly for Computer Science instruction.

The lab contains 24 27-inch iMacs (iMac 13.2). These are 3.2 GHz Intel i5 quad-cores, with 8 GB of RAM and 1 TB hard drives. There is a variety of software available on each Darwin 28 machine image.
Stevenson 1210 is a CS Lab used mainly for Computer Science instruction.
Facilities
The lab contains 25 21-inch iMacs (iMac 16.2). These are 3.6 GHz Intel i5 Quad-cores, with 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB hard drives. There is a variety of software available on each Stevenson 1034 machine image.
The SSU Makerspace is an instructional and club space, available to anyone at SSU. Find more information at Make@SSU.
Facilities
The Makerspace offers a broad array of tools for making and prototyping, including 3D printing, laser cutting, sewing, embroidering, engraving and printing.
Various computer labs exist on campus managed by IT, for self-study or to be booked by classes. Detail are available at the IT website about labs.
