Time-Sensitive Networking: Audio Video Bridging

Eric Allman, Swarm Lab, UC Berkeley, CA

Stevenson Hall 1300
12:00 PM - 12:50 PM

Conventional A/V presentation over a network works through over-provisioning, notably requiring more bandwidth than actually needed to avoid jitter due to lost packets and a lot of buffering. Some applications however require real time response (with latency of no more than 2 mSec in some cases). Achieving this requires reserving bandwidth, traffic shaping, and clock synchronization. This talk will discuss available Audio Video Bridging technology and give some thoughts on adapting it for other purposes.
