Latent Semantic Analysis: From Information Retrieval To Team Cognition And Performance

Melanie Martin, CSU Stanislaus, Turlock, CA

Stevenson Hall 1300
12:00 PM - 12:50 PM

In this talk I will introduce some basic issues in Information Retrieval and show how Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) is a vast improvement over the Vector Space Model. LSA has been successfully used in a wide variety of natural language processing tasks. I will focus on applications of LSA to analyze team cognition and performance, based on team communication content. I will discuss the implications of this research for team training and assessment.
