CS Students accepted into SULI program
Anthony Flores ('25) and Meaghan Boykin ('26) accepted into prestigious Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program sponsored by the Department of Energy
Two CS students have been accepted into the prestigious Science Undergraduate Laboratory Internships (SULI) program sponsored by the Department of Energy.
- Anthony Flores ('25) will be working at Brookhaven National Lab this summer.
Anthony and a team developed XR content in Dr. Gurman Gill's class in collaboration with Dr. Sara Kassis, to benefit a cohort of faculty (under NSF grant #2126711, PI Kassis). Anthony was subsequently hired to work in Dr. Kassis' lab: finishing a project his team started in Gill's class for Dr. Matty Mookerjee; setting up new VR headsets and computers; and assisting a cohort of students beginning new XR development in the lab. - Meaghan Boykin ('26) will be working at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab this summer.
Meaghan will use the Immersive Learning Lab during the Spring semester in preparation for her summer work. The LBNL team are colleagues on a grant awarded to Dr. Farahmand and Dr. Kassis from the Department of Energy. Like Anthony, Meaghan began work in the XR space during Dr. Gill's software development class. The SULI opportunity was brought to the attention of our SSU students when Dr. Dani Ushizima (LBNL) visited and presented in Dr. Gill's class.
Congratulations Anthony and Meaghan!
And thank you to Drs. Kassis, Gill, Farahmand, Ushizima, and anyone else who has helped to develop experiences and opportunities for our fantastic CS students!
