The department welcomes new faculty
The CS Department welcomes two new assistant professors to the department.
Welcome to Dr. Roya Salek Shahrezaie and Dr. Oleksiy Al-saadi!
Roya Salek Shahrezaie earned her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno, focusing on human-robot interaction studies, particularly in socially aware navigation for robots in public spaces. Her research interests primarily lie in human-robot interaction and semantic decision-making within this domain. Before her doctoral program, she gained valuable industry experience as a developer and system engineer. Additionally, Roya collaborates with the SMART Laboratory at the Desert Research Institute and the Geography department at UNR. She believes in the benefits of industry collaboration and has a passion for interdisciplinary research.
Oleksiy Al-saadi earned his B.S. in Computer Science at Chico State and his Ph.D. at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Oleksiy's research interests lie in graph-theoretic concepts, especially structural and algorithmic graph theory. Besides his ongoing research in theoretical computer science, Oleksiy enjoys teaching computer science concepts through puzzles and broader computational thinking.
