CS Department welcomes new faculty!

The CS Department welcomes two new tenure-track faculty to SSU

The Computer Science department is proud to welcome two new faculty members to SSU: Dr. Nina Marhamati and Dr. Sabidur Rahman. During Fall 2020, Dr. Marhamati is teaching CS 351 (Computer Architecture) and Dr. Rahman is teaching CS 370 (Software Design and Development). We look forward to both our new faculty bringing their expertise and enthusiasm to our department, the classroom, and our students!

Nina Marhamati

Dr. Nina Marhamati

Dr. Nina Marhamati has been a Machine Learning Consultant for the past year. Previously, she was an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Winona State University for three years. She received her PhD in Computer Science from Southern Illinois University, where she was a DRA Fellow and the Outstanding Graduate Assistant in 2016. She was the recipient of the Best Dissertation Award from North American Fuzzy Information Processing Society in 2017. She is passionate for applications of artificial intelligence and machine learning that make day-to-day life easier and more fulfilling. She enjoys working on interdisciplinary projects and her areas of interest are in natural language processing, data analysis & time series forecasting, Bayesian estimation theory, computing with words, and fuzzy logic

 
Sabidur Rahman

Dr. Sabidur Rahman

Dr. Sabidur Rahman received his PhD in computer science from University of California Davis (2020). He completed his MS and BS degree in computer science from the University of Texas at San Antonio (2014) and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (2011), respectively. He also has industry research and development experience with AT&T Labs, Epic Systems, and Samsung R&D. His research interests include cost-efficient network automation, computer network virtualization, use of machine learning, and data-driven solutions to solve practical problems. His research has been published in flagship IEEE conferences (IEEE ICC, IEEE Globecom, IEEE CloudNet, etc.) and high-impact IEEE Transactions (TNSM, TGCN, etc.). His research has also gained invitations for talks at prestigious venues, including Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, USA; University of California Berkeley, USA; 8th Big Data Finance 2020 (Cornell Engineering); etc.
