Each participant will receive training for research in Unmanned Aerial Systems and their applications as well as receive $6,000 as stipend and also allowances for meals, travel, and other expenses. OVERVIEW

The program offers a unique opportunity to undergraduate students nation-wide, particularly to the students of under-represented groups, to participate in applied computing research in unmanned aerial systems and their applications. The objective of the program is to provide participants unique research experiences in a stimulating environment that will involve developing secure, autonomous UAS technology and using them for knowledge discovery. The focus of this REU is to seek solutions to facilitate collection, storage, and analysis of data on the coastal environment of the Gulf of Mexico, particularly in South Texas through developing algorithms and software systems. Approximately ten students will be supported for a 10-week program from June 1, 2021 to August 7, 2021.

Note: The Summer 2021 REU program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi will be virtual.

ELLIGIBILITY

  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident of the United States (Students from underrepresented minority groups such as Hispanics, African Americans, Native Americans, and women are strongly encouraged to apply)
  • Must be a full-time undergraduate student (Preference category: Computer science students in junior or senior year), and not graduating before December 2021.
  • Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher
